We came here on Monday night for dinner with a party of 6. They said it would be like a 30 minute wait, so we walked out on the dock to look out at the water. Maybe 10 minutes later, our table was ready! My husband and I decided to split the Shrimp Wreck (which is basically a piece of filet and some shrimp on top of a portobello shroom with some delish sauce on top). We substituted our two sides for a side salad for him and I got a side cup of clam chowda! The chowder was absolutely delicious! I am a clam chowder girl and this was amazing! The meal itself was perfect. Nice portion to split. The steak was super tender and well cooked. But man, the sauce, the sauce on top was absolutely amazing!! The dish was so rich, though, that I was glad we split it! Great spot overlooking the sound. The only two negatives I saw were 1: The chairs were super uncomfy metal curved like ones. No clue why they have those crappy chairs in there! 2: Since it was kind of small, it was crazy loud in there. We had kids with us, so, I'm sure we were contributing to the loudness. However, it was over the top loud.....Im usually pretty tolerant to noise in restaurants, so for me to notice it, says something. Otherwise, great meal! I would have to pin this as one of the best restuarants on the island!

Not horribly disgusting, but definitely did not hit the spot while looking for fresh seafood. Our waitress let us know it was her 4th day working here. Asked for water and she took the next table's drink order. Came back with the other table's drinks and proceed to take out order without having brought our water. Our waitress let us know it was her 4th day working here and told us she was bringing hush puppies. The second and third tables after its were seated. We got our water. Our waitress let us know it was her 4th day working here and came back shortly giving two other tables hush puppies. Brought our tiny, $25 each meals and we asked for the hush puppies. Our waitress let us know it was her 4th day working here. Came out to the third table that arrived after us with hush puppies. We stopped her and asked for hush puppies and she told us she had just checked and there were none ready. I told her not to lie and she admitted that she forgot but for me it was too late for redemption. The food was greasy and over cooked. Highlight was the miniature York Peppermint patties that she brought with the check that we held onto for another 20 minutes while she told some one else that she'd only been here 4 days.

I don't even know how this place is so highly rated. The hostess was rude and glared at everyone even though she was incredibly unclear on what name was calling. After waiting more than an hour for a table, we ordered our food only to wait another 80 minutes for it arrive. Meanwhile we rarely got refills. When the food finally did arrive, over half the things ordered were cold. Mine was congealed and hardened almost to the point of being inedible. Over half of the entrees at our table were cold, and some were so spicy that they couldn't eat those.

Family and I tried this place and not impressed. Food was mediocre. The only thing good about it was our bottled beer and a crab appetizer. The rest of the food was dry and not worth the $. The actual location was kind of nice. The owners are rude, they both were walking around without even saying hello to anyone. We prob won't be coming back.

The skewered shrimp appetizer with mango chutney were phenomenal! The 14 pan-seared scallops were outstanding! The "shrimp wreck" was very good...KC strip plus shrimp. Melissa was our very pleasant waitress. We even had the pleasure of meeting the Chef, his Grandmother and daughter. It was a very comfortable atmosphere with a beautiful view of Bogue Sound where you can walk to the end of the dock.

My go-to spot for amazing seafood on the Crystal Coast! They have some of the most delicious dishes I have ever tasted. You must try the Shrimpwreck at least once! Yummy!!! And they are located on Bogue Sound and have a dock you can sit on and watch the sunsets or enjoy a beverage while you wait for your table or food. Definitely a place to visit!

Being a constant visitor to the Carolina Coast - specifically the Outer Banks - I am always on the lookout for good seafood at good prices. There are many places along the main roads that have been established for many years, but sadly have lost much of the food quality they once had in order to push more tourists through and at higher prices. For a time, I seemed resigned to eating mediocre seafood for outlandish prices. Enter Port of Call, the new hope for seafood near Emerald Isle. Located in Salter Path, the only thing that gets close to the quality of food and the excellence of the service is the view offered in the restaurant itself. Many places have certain spots in the establishment that offer a view, but at Port of Call, EVERY seat has a view. Now we're talkin'. In my party of five, no two people ate the same dish, but there was one thing in common between all of us - we were blown away. I rarely gush about the food at any restaurant, but it was all I could do to stop smiling long enough to take the next bite.

Overall the food was ok. Mots of the portions were large. The chowder, shrimpwreck, and the Mahi Mahi were all good. A couple of us had pasta and it was overcooked and soggy. Shells and cheddar were soggy and had no taste. Tried to order 2 different beers from the menu and they didn't have them. The view was nice - the dock was a nice place for the kids to walk around while we were waiting for our food...thank goodness, because we waited almost 45 minutes for it to come out. Then 2 of the meals came out 10 minutes after the others. We specifically asked to speak to a manager and no one ever came by our table to talk to us. They also add a 20% tip for large parties (others are usually 18%) - we are usually 20%+ tippers but our server sure didn't earn it. We were very disappointed, and we won't be going back.

My boyfriend order the Shrimp-Wreck, It's a filet & portobello mushroom covered with shrimp & a special sauce. It's sooooo so so so GOOD! I got the Salmon w/shrimp & that was good as well. The wait for the food was long but it was well worth the wait. The view is nice too!

Excellent seafood and non-seafood options. The steak lovers in the group were very pleased and the seafood dishes were all outstanding. Beautiful view of the sound. Table for eight was waiting when we arrived at 7 on a Friday evening. Service was timely, accurate and friendly. The whole group agrees that we should return next year.

Very disappointing. Decided on Port after Crab Shack was too crowded. Able to get right in. Not a very big place. Nice casual atmosphere tho. Waitress came right over and took our order. She did a good job. Kinda felt hurried by her tho when ordering. We asked for a few minutes and it seemed like 30 seconds later she was right back. I ordered the scallops. And never in my life have I had a worse scallop experience. Hockey pucks are softer. These were extremely hard and rubbery. And for almost $30, they should have been a lot better. My gf had the salmon. Same awful experience. I wouldn't recommend.

The dock out back and drinks under the sunset were wonderful. Super long wait to get a table and then a super long wait after we were at a table was not good. Food was fine but in no way with the price. I had a dinner salad that was good but in no way worth 9 dollars. My girlfriend had deviled crab but she said there was vet little crab. I was really hoping for more in the way of food and service. A 20 percent gratuity was added. For that amount I would like my food to be prompt and empty dishes to be taken away. My food order was forgotten and i had to remind the waitress. I was the only one without a meal in front of me and she asked if everything was ok. Another one if our party had his swordfish served cold. We were promised hushpuppies but none arrived. Ohhhhh well. I hope that they can bump up the food quality or drop the price. My high hopes faded with the setting sun. On a positive note... The workers were friendly and the place was clean. I was also happy that all of their food wasn't fried.

The view is excellent. The service was average. The food was ok and the price was outrageously high. They did seat our party of 13 quickly as they don't take reservations.

We had a fantastic meal! We visited right at the beginning of the summer season with 2 small kids, on a Friday night about 7pm. We were seated immediately and really enjoyed the view of the sound and the dock from the windows! Our girls also appreciated being able to run around on the deck while we waited for our meal. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. She was kind to our kids which matters, too. We had the Alfredo pasta with shrimp, a fried shrimp platter, salmon and the "Shrimpwreck" steak entree. Everything was very good to great. My husband didn't love the Alfredo sauce, but his mom said the Shrimpwreck was the best thing she'd eaten on vacation. My 3 year old ordered the kids meal flounder and the fish was a huge filet- like an adult portion. The hush puppy rings were delicious as well. Nothing but good things to say. Definitely worth the trip!

The food was great but pricey. Crab dip appetizer was wonderful and the Shrimp Wreck dinner was very good. Those were the highlights. The chairs where without a doubt the cheapest, most unsteady chair I have ever sat on in a restaurant. I ordered a soda and received a large glass packed with ice and coated with soda, I was then brought another identical glass at which time I found out that my $2.25 only bought me the 2 glasses of ice and about 8 oz of soda. When the bill came and I discovered that a 20% tip had been added to my bill. I did not see this displayed on the menu, if I had I would have left without ordering. To add insult to injury when my credit card slip came back from the cashier for my signature there was included a line for me to ADD A TIP. I make it a practice to tip fairly and I resent being told what a waitpersons service is worth. I really don't care how good the food was I want everything revealed upfront. I'll never be back.

Large portions. My wife and I split the grilled salmon and shrimp and it was very good. We aren't into fried food and so I was glad we could find a healthy seafood dish. The owners even came by to see how we liked our meal. Good place to go!

Disappointed. Friends had raved about it, but it was merely average. Maybe this was due to the off season or something, but it wasn't at all what I expected. I will try it again, but with tempered expectations.

Great variety of dishes with local fish. Four of us were seated and served immediately with an efficient server. When the bill came the server automatically put on a 20% gratuity. Though that was very unusual since there only four of us. Even with that. ..a great meal.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this place is a diamond among diamonds. Started my meal with a Spinach Sensation salad, and the server suggest the hot bacon dressing and she was right. It went perfectly with the salad. Then had the Fried shrimp platter which was heaven on a plate! It was lightly breaded and seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back!

The food here is always excellent! A variety of choices. The white cheddar shells are fantastic! A bit on the pricey side, but worth it for a good meal.

Have to give this place two stars even though the food was ok because the service was very lacking. First, the hostess was a little short with us. Then our server took my order wrong and then tried to argue with me when I pointed it out instead of just getting what I had asked for. Then when we got the bill I had been charged for the wrong dinner, which was more expensive. After pointing that out she tried to argue with me again. After all that I was never given a discount for the poor service. There are a lot of seafood spots in this area so it's safe to say I will not be back.

We went here based on the good reviews. We were excited to try it, hoping to enjoy some fresh seafood with a full view of Bogue Sound. We were very disappointed with the quality of the food and the lack of quality ingredients used to prepare our dishes. Fake bacon. Really? Margarine. Really? Our drinks were cold and our waitress was friendly and that's about the only positive thing I can say about this place. Believe the low star ratings from other patrons and take your hard earned money somewhere else!

A little pricey and service is slow; however, the food was good. We still will come back.

The decoration and atmosphere of the place was awesome. That's why 3 stars. We ordered the crab dip which was a different name and it was pretty good. For meal I got the mahi which wasn't grilled or blackened like I thought it would be. Tasted like they just broiled it and put some peppers and onions on top to make it have some flavor which it lacked extremely. Little pricey too for mahi baked potatoes and broccoli which was 25 dollars. Overall the food wasn't so great but i didn't try other things.
